A Lot Has Happened... Again

So evidently I'm REALLY bad at updating this. I need to try to be better at updating on here. Because so much has happened since February, I'll do a bullet list to bring things back to the present:

February
- did that whole barn foreman/groom thing on the horse farm, dating Laura (sorry if didn't mention that earlier, we got back together in December after a 9 month hiatus, and we're together still, about two weeks shy of two years total)

March
- mid-March, our new general manager left the farm, and we were in a bit of chaos for a few weeks. During this time, Erik and I became very involved in the computer end of the vet work, especially difficult to learn as this was the busiest part of the breeding season. this work includes daysheets (to-do lists for the barns), vet entry and scheduling, and doing all of the technical aspects of the herd health management

April
- by mid-April to May, I had become the main person in charge of herd health management, while still being in the barns for half a day or so--led to a lot of confusion in scheduling

May
- mid-to-late May I was moved almost entirely into the office, and really began to take on more of the computer duties. At this point I was still in the barns, but not as much

June
- at this point, I fully took over the computer controller position on the farm--which is where I am now--in charge of healthbook, herdhealth, daysheets, computer maintenance, advertising, pr, social networking--really everything and anything that has to do with computers or technology on the farm.
- also in June (at the end of the month) went to the first of two weddings of the summer (congrats to Marshall and Shayanna) in which Laura was one of the bridesmaids

July
- still going strong in the office, trying to teach our KEMI students (farm interns) the basics of healthbook and daysheets, along with electric fence management, so that they can take those areas and cover for me, as well as bring that knowledge with them, regardless of whether or not they stay on at our farm after December
- late in July I finally replaced the Volvo wagon (a '96 with 197,000 miles on it) with a NEW car--not just new to me, but new off-the-lot Civic coupe--which is AWESOME. Get about 25-40 mpg, can still carry quite a bit with the seats down, and the air conditioning is phenomenal after having no AC for a month or so
- finally, moved out of my house in McConnell's trace, and onto the farm. I'm nowhere near set up, and my cat (yes, I have a cat--named Puck, often referred to as Squishy) is somewhat pissed at me after the move, but it's going to be great living on the farm, being able to bike to work. I just have to paint, and do some more fix-up, but it's going to end up being really nice!
- lastly, but definitely not least, went to the second wedding of the summer--and last, unless there's one I haven't heard of (congrats, Kelly and Michael!) Laura was a bridesmaid again, and a dessert reception was definitely fun!

That brings us up to August, and well, I don't have much else other than that. Hopefully I'll remember to update this more frequently.

Long time. Lot has happened.

Wow. Can't believe it's been two years. I really need to try to update, on a more regular basis. For almost the last year, I've been working on the horse farm my dad manages, Margaux Farm, as a groom and am now essentially a barn foreman. I'll write more later on how I got from Bayfield to here, but work is 6 days a week 7-4:30, and my day off was yesterday. So until next time.
